Tunnel of Light - Another Feast of Light and Textures

(I missed posting for about 2 weeks now. So, I wanted to get caught up on some things. Please read down to the next two postings also. One shows you the house I rented and the decor I've been working on and the other talks about a sale I'm participating in. Enjoy!)

The Tunnel of Light is a ride through vast light and textures. The ride is over 6 minutes long.

Once you teleport to the location, follow the signs to the ride. A sign with an arrow will point the way. Click the paper boat to go to the beginning of the ride.

I'm not telling all because I think surprises are great. However, here are a couple of pictures to give you an idea of the beauty of the ride. Keep in mind that the pictures don't do it justice.

The Olde English Tudor Mansion

Two weeks ago I moved out of the condo and moved into a beautiful Olde English Tudor Mansion in SL. Many of the items in the house were made by me including the tapestries, rugs, oil lamps, fireplace, desk, paintings and pictures. You will be seeing some of these items in Effie's soon.

I'd like to share some of the beauty of the house with you. Here are some pictures:

Again, this is the second of three posts. Read below about the interesting sale going on now.

Tryst "Group Colonic" Blow Out Sale 2008

I know I haven't posted in a while. I have been decorating my new SL home for the past couple of weeks and putting things out in the Tryst "Group Colonic" Blow Out Sale. I'll put three postings up today about the sale, the house, and a new place to visit.

The Tryst "Group Colonic" Blow Out Sale is actually a whimsical name of a sale that the owners of the Tryst group came up with. It serves two purposes:
  1. Purge your inventory of old items you don't use anymore
  2. Offer unreleased items to the public
They decided to let their group in on the sale. So, I have items there. Everything is marked to move. Nothing is over $300L and most items are $100L.

To find out what is in a box, right click on it and choose "buy." You will get a chance to view what is in the box before actually purchasing it.

It is definitely a creative way to hold a sale. The sale isn't going to last forever, so visit today by CLICKING HERE. (Intemptesta Nox 107, 71, 76)

Brighten Your Day With Color & Texture - Zero Point

Is it art, a maze, a store, an amusement park? In various ways, it's all of those things. Zero Point is full of beautiful colors, textures and light. It's some of the best examples in SL.

Once you TP you may have to let the world around you rezz for a few. The teleport pads will be right in front of you. Even the TP point has some amazing light and texture.

A friend of mine started me at Vomit Comet. I can see why. You don't want to miss it. It's a roller coaster ride through the textures and color of Zero Point. When you TP to the Vomit Comet, walk to the center of the room. Look for the red car hanging overhead. Just sit on the set and watch it go. I've watched in regular view and mouselook - both are great. You'll probably want to ride more than once anyway.

The Gallery is a great place to start after the coaster. You arrive on a platform that you follow observing the artwork you pass. When you get to the end of the walkway, click on the doors of the tube and it will open. Now you are in a maze texture, movement, bright colors. Just walk through the different tunnels. If you get lost, just TP again and go to the Gallery, First Floor or Second Floor. Getting lost is part of the fun.

The talented creator of Zero Point, Sabine Stonebender, also has a store where some of her textures and creations are available. A classic version of Vomit Comet is even for sale. I personally couldn't pass up the lava lamp that you dance inside. I don't know when I'll ever use it, but I thought it was cool.

You can find more about Sabine and her artwork at http://sabinestonebender.blogspot.com/.

Happy Rezz Day to Me!!! My Thoughts ...

Wow, it's been a year since I rezzed into the great world of Second Life. To celebrate, I thought I would share some of my thoughts about SL:

Honesty is the best policy. Be honest with each other.

A RL avie is behind every keyboard. There is a RL avie with RL feelings behind every keyboard. Treat them with respect.

SL is supposed to be fun. Most of use have enough drama in our real lives.

Rez before walking. When you teleport someplace, especially a busy region, please either rezz first or use your mini map.

Read profiles. They are a great source of information.

Talk to someone before offering friendship. I haven't seen a "bite" animation for talking with someone yet. :-)

SL is global. Make it an opportunity to make friends from other cultures and learn about them.

I've made some wonderful friends in SL. I love each and every one of you dearly and you each own a special piece of my heart:

- Val, my Obi Wan, what would I ever do without you?

- Tho, I love having someone to "girl talk" with.

- Keith, I can always count on you.

- Kimmee, you have a heart of pure gold and a voice of an angel.

- Gav, I don't know how you "listen" to me so much, but I'm glad you do.

- Kram, my friend, you make me feel inspired.

- Dusty, I don't think I need to say anything... you know.

- Adonis, your generosity warms my heart.

I could go on and on. If you're on my friends list, you are special to me, and I want to thank you for your friendship in SL. I'd be up all night writing if I thanked everyone in the list separately. I love you all.

(Effie holds her champagne glass high.) And, here is to another great year in SL.

Love, Effie

New Location, New Look for Effie's

I've spent the last week moving Effie's. Yes, I've shortened the name from Effie's Epicurious Emporium to just Effie's. The old name was quite a mouthful. The store is much bigger and in a beautiful new plaza called Sungold Mall.

Effie's look has gone a little more modern and tropical. You'll still find great RL recipes and SL decor for your home.

You'll find some new things, too. First, and most noticeable, you'll find some rezzing vendors. To cut down on prims, I put vendors in for the rugs, gift boxes, and flowers & plants. Use the arrows to scroll through the items. The vendors also have a gift feature. You buy something and have it sent to another avie... very cool feature.

The line of rugs has been expanded. It also includes some tropical patterns. The rugs are also modifiable now so that you can make them the size that you need. The rugs are located in one of the new rezzing vendors.

The line of flowers has been expanded to include some tropical plants. The larger plants rezz to the side of the vendor.

Of course, you'll also find Easter goodies. There are gift boxes for Easter. Some of them are eggs in beautiful colored jewel tones. I also have an ultimate Easter basket that includes items like a flower pot, cookie jar and eggs.

Part of the store is a cafe. You'll find the free coffee and cookies in the cafe. It over looks a small, hidden garden in the plaza. I'm very impressed with this new plaza from Cascadia Properties.

Please visit Effie's and do some shopping. Then sit and relax in the cafe, enjoy the view, and savor the cookies and coffee.
