The sounds of Christmas... streaming music on your land

Have you been hearing that wonderful Christmas music being played throughout SL? Want to find URLs to stream holiday music (or any music) on your land? You can get a URL for any SHOUTcast radio station. Here are the directions: (NOTE: You need to have permissions to set media on the land in order to change the URL.)

1. Go to shoutcast.com.

2. Search for a station you would like.

3. Right click on Tune In button.

4. Choose Save Link As.

5. A Save As dialog box will open allowing you to choose the location to save the file on your computer. Find the location and click Save.

6. Find the file and open it. It will open in Notepad.

7. The URL will be listed in the text. Select it and copy it (CTRL + C).

8. In Second Life make sure you are on your land. On the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on the name of the land.

9. Click on the Media tab.

10. Click on the Music URL box. If something it already in it, select the text.

11. Paste the URL into the box (CTRL + V).

12. Hit Enter.

13. Close the box.

14. Turn your music on at the bottom of the screen and listen to make sure the station changed.

hi effie,

i didn't see an email address for you, so i figured i could contact you here, and you can delete it after you read it.

i noticed that you are a teacher. are you familiar with moodle? (i'm not trying to sell you anything) you can find out a lot about it with a google search.

i have a couple domains that i am setting up to host moodle sites on, and if you would like one, i'll be happy to set you up for free

the domains are: onlinecommunityschool.com
onlinelearningacadamy.com
and i have already registered both of them for three years each.

i haven't developed any home pages yet for either site. i can set up the moodle site in just a few minutes and you can build your own lessons.

you are free to offer free lessons, charge for some, whatever you would like to do. i already paid the sixty bucks to register two domains for 3 years each, i pay for a hosting account (actually i pay for four hosting accounts, but i am trying to move everything to just one account)

i publish http://TennesseeBillsOTR.com an old time radio site with over 400 gigs of free mp3 downloads. i also publish several other sites, i offer free hosting and file storage for old time radio fans. do you see a pattern here? money goes out... and out.. and out!

anyway, if you would like me to set up a moodle site for you (it's an online learning site) i'll be happy to do it... no charge, today, tomorrow or at any time. you will have complete control over your lessons, and students. i would even expect you to change the pasword to your site.

and please let other teachers know about this offer. after i get about 50 people setup for free, i will likely charge a small amount for new sign ups... just enough to cover some of my costs. i use at least 5,000 GIGS of bandwith each month, so this site won't even be a blip on the bandwith radar.
